In this chapter of the tarot course we continue with the emotional tarot. Exercises for connecting with the Tarot, the personal story. In the practice of tarot, it is very important to bring the rational and logical down to a more practical and intuitive aspect.
We must not only know the meaning of the cards, but be able to connect with them on another level, and this exercise helps you connect with the tarot in a more personal way.
Continuing with the series of exercises, we are going to connect with our emotions. The challenge is that this time you remember a real story that you have lived.
To connect with emotions, the best example you have is your own life.
Exercises to connect with the Tarot.
- To begin, shuffle the tarot deck and draw a card at random.
- Observe it carefully and try to forget the meaning of the card. Simply observe the card as if it were the first time you had it before your eyes.
- Now recall and look for a memory, within your personal biography, that resembles what is shown on the card.
- You can find analogies through the state of mind of the characters, or by observing the scene shown on the card. Think carefully, what does it remind you of? what does it resemble? is there anything you have experienced that is similar to what is shown on the card?
- Once you have that memory or association, imagine that there is a person in front of you to whom you want to tell that story.
- Tell it out loud and introduce the elements you observe in the letter. Do it in the first person and if possible, record or write down your story.
Then, at another time during the day, or better on a different day, listen to the recording or read your story and reflect on the way you express yourself. What would you change in the way you speak, in the way you tell the story?
If you have someone you trust who wants to help you, tell them the story and listen to their comments.
Here it is not about the content of the story, but about the way you explain it, do you explain it clearly, is your story understood or do you get confused in your emotions?
This is an excellent exercise that will help you connect each card with an emotion you have experienced, and it will help you express what you feel or see with your spreads more clearly.
