Pyramid Spread

In this chapter of the tarot course, we will see The Pyramid Spread. What is it for? How to do The Pyramid Spread in tarot? How to interpret this reading?

The Pyramid Spread is a very interesting and more advanced tarot spread, usually used when you want to analyze a very specific topic, where a question needs to be explored in more detail, and shows us the most objective situations, as well as allows us to see the development over time of a given situation.

Before performing the pyramid spread, it is necessary to clarify the question and if the reading fits the purpose of the question, because it does not work for all questions or topics, for emotional issues, for example, other spreads such as the temple of Aphrodite are better.

That is to say, it is not a very suitable spread for general queries in which it is not intended to go into detail.

The Pyramid Spread serves to analyze what worries the querent at the present moment. It shows their hopes, what worries them, and the paths they can follow if they follow the Tarot’s indications with effort and dedication.

How to do the Pyramid Spread in the Tarot?

Doing the Pyramid spread is very easy, you will only need 3 steps

  1. Shuffle the Tarot Deck with only the Major Arcana.
  2. Once the cards have been shuffled, choose ten cards without turning them over and spread them face down.
  3. Next, you begin to build the pyramid as you interpret the cards. As you will see, the arrangement of the cards is pyramidal, starting with the first card at the top of the figure, then arranging two cards on the second step, three on the third and ending with four cards at the base.

Interpretation and Reading of the Pyramid Spread

The interpretation will be done by turning over the cards one by one, starting at the top of the pyramid and ending at the base.

That is to say, the first level will be placed face up and interpreted, then the same will be done with the second level, then we will move on to the third level and, finally, we will interpret the fourth level.

What does each level and each card mean?

  • Card 1: The first card, the top of the pyramid, symbolizes the main concern of the querent and, therefore, will set the pace of the Tarot Spread and will influence the reading of the rest of the cards.
  • Cards 2 and 3: The second level, composed of 2 cards, represents the existing alternatives as well as the querent’s hopes in relation to the exposed problem.
  • Cards 4, 5 and 6: The third level consists of 3 cards that symbolize the real possibilities of achieving what the querent is looking for, taking into account the initial situation, the environment, what is in favor and what is against.
  • Cards 7, 8, 9 and 10: Finally, the 4 final cards are the base of the pyramid and indicate the possible solution or solutions. These cards indicate the best ways to solve the problem. In other words, this level provides the Final Result, or the advice of The Pyramid.

Finally, remember that this spread is for questions and issues that require a more detailed exploration.
