Why do I get a headache when reading the Tarot?

In this chapter of the tarot course, we will see the tarot and the headache. We will answer the questions: Why do I suffer from headaches when reading the Tarot? Can tarot reading cause headaches? Is it normal? Why does it happen? Is it bad?

It is very common for some people who are new to Tarot to wonder if they can suffer from headaches when reading the Tarot.

We should know that tarot, like any activity that requires concentration and energy, can cause headaches.

Is it normal to suffer headaches when reading tarot?

No, but it can happen.

Causes of tarot headaches

Now, tarot is an activity that moves a lot of energy, so there are many reasons why you may suffer from a headache or migraine during a tarot reading. Let’s look at the most frequent causes:

1. Too much effort or concentration

Perhaps it is an unclear reading, a difficult subject that cannot be seen clearly and requires a lot of energy, effort or concentration.

2. Bad energy

Perhaps an unhappy subject, or not, but that is very charged and has a lot of energy or, on the contrary, the subject is charged with bad energy, either from the querent or the subject itself.

3. You have little energy or you are tired

Perhaps you are getting ready to throw the cards and you are not in a good moment, which usually happens when one starts to do something half-heartedly. In tarot, as in all other things, forcing yourself to do something usually brings a headache.

4. Many distractions

If you want to concentrate and you have different distractions, for example, annoying sounds or interruptions, this can also cause headaches.

5. Lack of hydration

Some tarot readers have told me that they should drink a lot of water during the spread, otherwise they get headaches or other discomforts. They also say that hydration helps them to read the tarot better.

6. Too many readings

You have a certain amount of energy available, and there comes a point where you have to stop. If you are pulling cards for a long time and reading different themes, this can cause headaches.

7. Nerves

Maybe you are pulling cards for other people and you feel judged, which can cause you stress, and consequently, bring you a headache.

8. Unresolved or sensitive issues of your own.

It may happen that you do a reading of an issue for someone else, that you have not yet resolved, and that it is a very sensitive issue for you. And when you throw this issue away, the mere mention of it causes you a headache. The famous, don’t even talk to me about it.

9. The impatient querent.

You are casting the cards and the querent argues or explains the subject while you try to read it. You may get a headache if you are impatient or tired and don’t feel like dealing with it.

What to do if I suffer from frequent tarot headaches?

If you are just starting out, the first thing to do is to try to relax more when doing the reading. You can also do shorter sessions.
If you already have some time with tarot, try to identify when the headache occurs, is it after a certain time? with a certain subject? Try to remember and write down how it happened.
Remember that every now and then, it is good to do a cleansing, re-energize the cards and remove the bad vibes from your cards, the environment and you.

If it is very frequent, the best thing to do is to see if you have a headache in another activity outside the tarot, for example when reading a book or doing another activity that requires concentration.

In any case, the most recommendable and responsible thing we can advise you is that if you have frequent headaches, consult your doctor.
